What can screed be used for?

Screed is a top layer added to a concrete subfloor to produce a smooth surface. We recommend using the screed for the following purposes:

To provide a flat, even surface before applying carpet, tile or floorboards

To even out the floor surface, ensuring it is safe and level

Applying screed is an important step to ensuring your finished floor is smooth and safe.

In addition to floor slabs, screed can also be laid over the top of insulating materials, including underfloor heating pipes.

How long does screed take to dry?

The type of screed you use and its thickness will affect how long it takes to dry. Typically, screed takes approximately 24-48 hours to dry, but this can be reduced to just 12 hours if the right additives are used.

In any case, we recommend leaving the screed for around 5-7 days to set completely before placing any heavy furniture on it. If you want the absolute best results, you may want to wait for the screed to reach full cured strength – around 28 days.
